Ibrahim Bangura

Ibrahim has over ten years of experience in the fields of DDR, child protection monitoring and rehabilitation and research. He currently heads the Sierra Leone office of TI, leading the organisation’s projects in Sierra Leone and other African countries. Ibrahim has worked extensively on gender issues with a special focus on Gender Based Violence in every district of Sierra Leone, forming networks and organising sensitisation programmes for the eradication of harmful, traditional practices such as female genital mutilation. He has worked with female victims of war and those marginalised by the DDR process for reasons of gender and age, and has organised seminars on gender discrimination and differentiation. He also has thorough knowledge in project evaluation and management. He has taken part in many training programmes organised by the UN and the EU both as a trainer and trainee, holds a BA in political science and history, a Master degree in gender studies (conflict and human rights bias), a Master degree in international development studies and is currently finalising his PhD in economics.
